Family-owned and operated Naples, Florida-based Cool Zone, Inc. was founded in 1996 by the husband and wife team of JD and Terri Thompson. With more than 28 years of hard work and an intense focus on providing excellent service, JD and Terri have seen their company expand from a two-person operation to a continuously growing business that now employs 35 dedicated workers.

A life-long Naples resident, JD has been working in the air conditioning business since graduating from high school in 1977. He started with Island Air, where he worked from 1978-1982 while simultaneously enhancing his HVAC knowledge and skills at 5 County Builders Mechanical School. He then worked for Modern Air, followed by Wiegold Air Conditioning, before entering a partnership for two years at Design Air and then co-founding Cool Zone in 1996. During his many years in the air conditioning business JD has earned numerous certifications that have been instrumental in helping Cool Zone thrive. These include: Certified Indoor Environmentalist, State Certified Air Conditioning Contractor, State Certified Mold Assessor, NADCA Certified Air Systems Cleaning Specialist, Ventilation System Mold Remediator, and Lennox Premier Dealer.

Born and raised in Grand Haven, Michigan, Terri—who moved to Florida in 1977—has been instrumental in developing the customer service component of Cool Zone’s business and in taking care of the accounting. She acquired her customer service and accounting experience with a 10-year stint at Southeast Bank as a customer service representative, followed by nine years of bookkeeping for Gail Hayes, CPA.

JD and Terri remain committed to the company and are still highly involved in the business’s day-to-day operations. When they are not working at the company’s headquarters on Naples’ 2000 J and C Boulevard, you can find them enjoying Naples paradise on the water or you can find JD in his garage working on classic cars. JD and Terri’s daughter Brooke has grown up with Cool Zone and has also played a role in shaping the business into what it is today. As hard-working, industrious individuals who continuously strive to make their business the best it can be, they look forward to another 28 plus years of business together.
