What is the Ideal Humidity Level for my Home?

The humidity level of a residence should never exceed 60%. Indoor environments kept at greater than 60% humidity are susceptible to  mold and mildew growth. This can lead to  property damage and decrease air quality. Many of the latest thermostats display your home’s current humidity level, and Cool Zone techs always test for humidity during maintenance visits.

Where Should I Set My Thermostat When I Leave Town?

If you are leaving your home for any extended period of time, your thermostat should be set to 78 degrees. This is a sort of “sweet spot” where your unit will run often enough to keep humidity under control, but not often enough to waste money cooling an uninhabited home.

How Often do HVAC Filters Need Replacing?

HVAC air filters work to clear circulating air of dust, dirt, allergens and other contaminants. As such, they need to be cleaned or replaced regularly to maintain clean air and help your HVAC system operate at peak efficiency. Cheap, disposable filters should be checked/changed every month, while premium filters should be changed every four to six months depending on filter specifications. Non-disposable filters should be checked/cleaned monthly.

How Often Should Heating and Cooling Systems be Serviced?

To maintain the highest efficiency with your heating and air conditioning, Naples, FL-based Cool Zone suggests servicing your HVAC equipment two times per year. Not only does this level of service ensure top efficiency through proper maintenance of parts and smooth airflow, but also reduces the need for HVAC repairs over time and expands the lifespan of equipment.

What is Included With an HVAC Maintenance Plan Visit?

Among elements included with HVAC servicing by your Naples premier heating and air conditioning company are:

  • Full inspection
  • Coil cleaning in place (if accessible)
  • Refrigerant check
  • Blower wheel inspection
  • Heating element examination
  • Fan assessment
  • Electrical connection check
  • Lubrication as needed
  • Condensate drain inspection and cleaning
  • Thermostat setting adjustment
  • Air filter replacement (with standard filter media)
How Often do Residential HVAC Systems and Air Ducts Need to be Cleaned?

The answer to this question may depend on a variety of factors. A key consideration is whether any of a home’s residents suffer from asthma or other respiratory ailments. Households with smokers and/or pets may also want to conduct more frequent cleanings. Cool Zone also recommends HVAC system and air duct cleaning prior to moving into a new home, after renovations, and whenever there has been any damages or water contamination to the home or its HVAC system.

Does Duct Cleaning Provide Any Health Benefits?

Research has shown that HVAC systems can collect and disperse numerous contaminants that may impact overall health, especially those already afflicted with respiratory illness. These contaminants include mold, fungi, bacteria, and small dust particles that can be removed by HVAC system and air duct cleaning.

Does HVAC System Cleaning Help Reduce Energy Bills?

The U.S. EPA has conducted research showing that HVAC system cleaning can boost system efficiency by clearing debris from sensitive mechanical parts. Dirty HVAC systems tend to be more prone to break down, have a shorter lifespan, and typically operate less efficiently than clean systems.

What is the NADCA and Why Should I Use a NADCA Member to Clean My Air Ducts?

NADCA stands for the National Air Duct Cleaners Association. And when you use a NADCA-certified air duct cleaning service, such as offered by Naples, FL-based Cool Zone, you are guaranteed to receive the highest levels of air duct cleaning and service.

What Else Can I do to Maintain My HVAC System?

With regular inspection, cleaning and service of your heating and air conditioning, Naples, FL-based Cool Zone believes you can cover all bases related to efficiency, air purity, and maintaining your HVAC system.

When is it Time to Purchase a New Air Conditioning System?

Age is a primary consideration, especially when you consider that today’s HVAC equipment can be up to 60 percent more efficient than late model equipment. Along with age, neglected maintenance, and wear and tear can contribute to inefficiencies. If your HVAC system is struggling, or your air conditioning repair bills are starting to mount up, your Cool Zone technician may recommend replacement. You may also need a new system if you notice an increase in utility billing combined with a decrease in the efficiency of your system. New additions or expanded space in your home or work space may also warrant the need for a new HVAC system.

If you want to upgrade your heating and/or air conditioning, Naples, FL-based Cool Zone can provide you with the highest efficiency air conditioners, furnaces, and HVAC systems available in southwest Florida. Not only will your new system deliver the most comfortable levels of clean air, but help you save money on your utility bills.
